Best of all, Long Island has a variety of fun things to do when the weather turns cool. From pumpkin picking to fall festivals, the Sayville, NY area has it all. That said, here are some fun fall day trip ideas for families near Sayville, Long Island.

Here you can find a wide selection of pumpkins of all sizes, a corn maze, hayrides, farm animals and pony rides and much more. Find the perfect pumpkin and then enjoy some time with friends and family on a hayride or with a journey through the corn maze.

 

Pick-your-own apples at Lewin Farms Apple Picking

Enjoy fresh apples right off the tree here at Lewin Farms. This 4th generation family farm sells many different types of apples in addition to pumpkins/gourds, peppers, tomatoes, eggplant and much more.

 

Visit the Oyster Bay Oyster Festival

While this festival is a bit of a hike (about 1 hour) from Sayville, it’s well worth the trip. The event is free and most activities are free as well. Here you can find live entertainment, delicious food, ships, pirate shows, midway rides, fresh oysters, an oyster shucking contest and much more. Despite rumors, the festival is still happening and runs October 19-20, 2019.

 

Attend the Long Island Fall Festival

The annual festival has something for everyone, including international food courts, three entertainment stages, a world-class carnival, a hilltop brewery and much more. The fun takes place at Heckscher Park in Huntington and runs from October 11-14, 2019.

 

Go on a hike through Connetquot River State Park Preserve

Enjoy a relaxing walk through the beautiful state park preserve. It’s the perfect way to enjoy a day with the family on a nice fall day. The state park preserve has over 3,000 acres of land and is a great place for fishing, bird watching, horseback riding and much more.
