2016 Volkswagen Jetta vs 2016 Ford Focus

Just because a car is compact doesn’t mean that it should be confining with limited space for passengers and no room for cargo. The Volkswagen Jetta is among the most spacious smaller-sized sedans out there, and while that might sound like an oxymoron we would like to show you exactly how it measures up to popular competition. The 2016 Volkswagen Jetta vs 2016 Ford Focus begins in a very affordable price range for a variety of drivers.

Just to give a better idea of just how much space the Volkswagen Jetta makes available, the measurements for rear seat legroom are a strong indicator. The Volkswagen Jetta provides 38.1 inches of room for rear seat passengers to stretch out in without having to ask the front seat passenger to move their seat all the way up so that they’re sandwiched against the dashboard. The Ford Focus doesn’t quite measure up, literally. It only lists 33.2 inches but both sedans do have comparable front seat head, hip, and leg room. As for cargo space, with the rear seats in place, the Ford Focus creates 13.2 cu.ft. of cargo space while the Volkswagen Jetta is able to squeeze in extra room and open up 15.7 cu.ft.

2016 Volkswagen Jetta: The Compact Car with a Midsize Mindset

The size of the Volkswagen Jetta and the amount of passenger and cargo space isn’t the only surprise it has in store. It also features advanced safety systems, something many compact cars are able to offer. The 2016 Volkswagen Jetta, in its higher trim levels, can include the following active safety systems: Front Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Park Pilot. The impressive combination of its standard safety features and advanced options have earned the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta the title of IIHS Top Safety Pick+. It’s fun to drive a car that looks cool, handles well, and doesn’t guzzle gas, but to have one that is all of these things in addition to entirely safe from bumper-to-bumper, now that gets tricky.

In addition to top-of-the-line advanced safety technology, the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta also shows off brand new entertainment, communication, and navigation tech for the new year. A 5” color touch screen display comes standard on the Volkswagen Jetta, with the option to upgrade to a 6.33” one with a built in navigation system. What is especially cool about innovation is that it will allow you to access VW Car-Net App-Connect. Through one of three platforms: Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and MirrorLink, drivers will be able to utilize maps, messaging, music and more on their smartphone interface displayed on the Jetta’s dash.
