2016 Volkswagen Tiguan SE Sayville NY
Volkswagen’s compact SUV continues to make waves in its segment. Without being dragged down by a luxury brand price tag, it rises through the ranks as a classier, more premium level vehicle compared to most. As a Volkswagen, the Tiguan clearly was designed with the fine hand of German refinement while still executing the expectations of a sport utility vehicle. The 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan SE in Sayville, NY is worth your consideration, but allow us to tell you a little bit more about why we believe it is.
The 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan is available in five trim levels: S, R-Line, SE, and SEL. All four trim levels remain five passenger vehicles; there is no option to squeeze in a third row of seating and cramp passengers. A comfortable ride for all, there is plenty of room in the front and back. The second trim from the top, there are a number of things that seperate the Tiguan SE from the competition: the quality materials used through its interior, the sleek design of its exterior, and its peppy performance.
The Volkswagen Tiguan is powered by a single engine option, and that is Volkswagen’s 2.0L four-cylinder engine. It produces 200 HP as well as 207 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, but there is the option for all-wheel drive for those interested.
As we mentioned above, the Tiguan SE doesn’t add a third row of seating, but it does create up to 23.8 cu-ft of space which more than doubles when the second row is split and folded down, making for a grand total of 56.1 cu-ft of cargo space.
Two-hundred horses is a pretty large number of ponies to pack, and the Tiguan has no difficulty accelerating 0-60 in just 7.5 seconds. With all of this said and done, it still manages to be mild-mannered when it comes to efficiency; earning a fuel economy rating of 21 city/ 26 hwy mpg.
2016 Volkswagen Tiguan SE: Turbo Fun for the whole Family
The quality of materials only continues to impress as you ascend the trim levels to the Tiguan SE considering the very base level already is designed with leather. The standard features list also continues to grow and shows off Volkswagen’s latest touchscreen interface system. While a 5-inch color display screen is standard, the SE bumps up to a 6.3-inch touchscreen and adds in VW Car-Net smartphone connectivity which also includes emergency communications and satellite radio.
The 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan is not yet available with VW’s crash prevention safety technology, but the Tiguan does allow users to choose from Android Auto or Apple Carplay, rather than limiting them to one or the other, and includes the following features at the SE level:
Additional power driver seat adjustments
Power reclining front passenger seat
LED running lights
