2016 Volkswagen Tiguan vs 2016 Volkswagen Touareg
When people think Volkswagen, the iconic Beetle is probably the first vehicle to pop in their heads, or perhaps one of the performance bound hatches, or even possibly the best-selling Jetta and Passat sedans. While these sedans serve as excellent family sedans, there are two other VW family members that serve well on the luxury side of sport utility vehicles.
Volkswagen has two SUVs, both of which are available at Donaldson’s VW. We plan to further explain how the two differ, taking the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan vs 2016 Volkswagen Touareg. Speaking strictly in terms of size, the Touareg is the larger option of the two crossovers; it approximately is a foot longer and wider than the compact Tiguan. The added space allows the Touareg to provide a maximum cargo carrying capacity of 64.0 ft while the Tiguan measures up with an impressive amount of space for its class, providing 56.1 cu.ft.

Differences Between the 2016 Volkswagen Touareg and Tiguan
Volkswagen currently does not offer a seven-seat SUV in the United States; both the Touareg and Tiguan seat five passengers comfortably. Each in their respective classes offers an impressive amount of storage space; therefore, the question will come down to how big of a vehicle you want, need, and feel comfortable driving. Either option is agile and easy to maneuver but when it comes to the more powerful SUV of the two, firing up 240 horsepower and a hefty 406 lb-ft of torque, the Touareg is the stronger bet. This immense surge of power enables the Touareg to tow up to 7,716 lbs, more than most midsize crossovers are capable of.
As for the 2016 VW Tiguan, it too is powerful for a compact crossover, capable of 200 horsepower while managing a respectable fuel economy rating as well. All-wheel drive is standard across all Touareg models while it is optional on the Tiguan which naturally comes as a front-wheel drive vehicle.
Drivers in the Sayville area who are interested in learning more about safety, technology, and more are welcomed to come and visit Donaldsons VW. We would be happy to further explain and let you take either SUV, or both, out for a test drive to see which you prefer!
