Meet Volkswagen’s all-new crossover SUV, the first of which to offer seven-passenger seating. It’s being built right here in America, at the Chattanooga plant, and is engineered and intended for the modern American family. This will be the largest Volkswagen to be assembled in the United States.
Two powertrains are available to the Volkswagen Atlas, the first of which is the 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, capable of 238 hp. The second option is an available 3.6L VR6 which fires up 280 horsepower. Both engines are paired to an eight-speed transmission.
The Atlas comes standard as a front-wheel drive vehicle, but there are models available that are equipped with Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system. (VR6 trim levels only.) The 4Motion system will come with a Driving Mode Selection feature to optimize fuel economy.
The all-new Atlas will be available with Volkswagen Car-Net which introduces drivers to a whole world of media and connected services. Through App-Connect, drivers can pair their smartphones and access Apple CarPlay, AndroidAuto, and MirrorLink.
Aside from the all-new Volkswagen Golf Alltrack, this is the first Volkswagen truly built to navigate adventure. The 2018 Atlas will be available in five trim levels and with two powertrains. And as we mentioned above, this is the largest vehicle that Volkswagen has built for the American market, and even better yet, it’s being built right here in the States.
Unlike the Tiguan or Touareg, the Volkswagen Atlas has a third row of seating, making it the first available seven-passenger SUV for the brand in America. What’s more, the third row in the Atlas is spacious and comfortable enough to seat adult passengers.
The Atlas does an excellent job of using all of its interior space to accommodate passengers and cargo. The third-row of seating is easy to access due to the innovative folding seat solution of the second row. The second row of seating also is designed to be compatible with child seats, making installation much easier.
And in addition to exceptional standard safety measures being taken, the Atlas can also be equipped with Volkswagen's driver assistance features. These are premium features at an affordable price, because your passengers and cargo are important to you and should be kept safe and secure. These features include: Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Automatic Post-Collision Braking System.
The Volkswagen Atlas will be coming in spring of 2017. To learn more about the all-new Atlas, please contact one of the Donaldsons VW team members. As soon as it becomes available, we invite you for a test drive and to take it for a spin!
