The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas has only been available for a few months, but it is already become a fast favorite for families who are looking for style and versatility. Due to the high demand for midsize crossovers that are on the larger end of the spectrum, the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas faces some stiff competition from several other models, including the 2017 Honda Pilot. Here is a comparison that we have put together to help you decide which vehicle is right for you.
|2017 Volkswagen Atlas||VS||2017 Honda Pilot|
|20.6 / 55.5 / 96.8 cubic feet||Cargo Space||16.5 / 46.8 / 83.9 cubic feet|
|2.0L turbo 4-cylinder 3.6L V6||Engine Options||3.5L V6|
|235 to 276||Horsepower||280|
|2,000 to 5,000 pounds||Towing Capacity||3,500 to 5,000 pounds|
One of the best things about the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas is that it is outfitted with a couple of different engine options to help make it even more versatile for you and your family (especially if your need to pull a heavy trailer).
Many of the models are outfitted with a 3.6L V6 engine. Thanks to its 276 ponies, it can pull 2,000 to 5,000 pounds.
Some of the other models (expected to be available later this summer) can be outfitted with a 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder engine. It produces 235 horsepower and a 2,000-pound towing capacity.
Besides the engine power, many of the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas models can be outfitted with the customer-favorite 4MOTION all-wheel drive system, which gives you the power and traction you need to handle the slippery road conditions during the notorious East Coast winters.
